Sheep have been an integral part of New Zealand's history and prosperity for over 160 years.

Over the years a lot of effort has gone into diversifying New Zealand wool products away from commodity into higher value markets. New Zealand has positioned its merino wool in the high value end of the market, producing distinctive ranges of active outdoor wear, fashion knitwear, accessories and designer blankets.

Our country has reaped the multiple benefits from the sheer size of our wool industry. Wool provides us with many traditions and national icons. The influence of wool is also seen in our architecture, literature, poetry, song, arts and crafts, both past and present.
